Alloy metal seal rings, lapped mating faces and complete duo-cone assemblies — from loose components to boxed rebuild kits.
In daily communication, “seal ring” / 浮封环 may mean the whole floating seal or only the metal ring — always confirm with the customer. A complete mechanical face seal (floating seal, duo-cone, lifetime seal) is a system: two metal rings + two elastomer loaders + seal house + lubricant + correct assembly. HuaTong supplies loose rings, matched pairs (including X/Y halves), half-sets and boxed groups.
Metal rings use high-chrome cast iron (15Cr3Mo family) because carbides in the matrix resist abrasive wear in mud and mine dust. Our route: controlled melt → casting → stress relief → quench/temper → CNC grind → lapping (flatness and contact band) → pairing and pack. Face quality is judged by Ra/Rz, light-band flatness and contact state — a shiny face alone does not prove a good seal.
| Product scope | Metal seal rings; matched ring pairs; elastomer loaders; complete mechanical face seal assemblies |
|---|---|
| Ring materials | 15Cr3Mo high-chrome alloy cast iron (primary); grey cast iron, carbon steel or nickel-alloy steel on specification |
| Ring hardness | HRC 65–72 (15Cr3Mo route); face hardness verified per production batch |
| Face machining | CNC turning/grinding + twin-face lapping; HuaTong flatness target within 0.003 mm on critical sizes |
| Loader materials | NBR, HNBR, FKM/Viton, silicone — matched to hub fluid and temperature |
| Supply formats | Loose ring; matched pair; X+Y pair; half-set (ring + elastomer); boxed rebuild kit; OEM assembly line bulk |

| Seal ring (metal) | Hard ring with lapped face and O.D. ramps; carries the dynamic sealing interface |
|---|---|
| Elastomer loader (toric) | Soft ring that seals statically in the bore and loads the metal faces axially; must not be twisted on install |
| Rotating vs. stationary ring | One metal ring turns with the hub; the other remains static in its housing; faces still slide relative to each other |
| Symmetric vs. X/Y pairs | DO/DF sets use two identical rings; XY groups use complementary X and Y halves — order as a matched pair only |
| Typical ring dimensions | O.D. 35–1,422 mm; I.D. and thickness 14–80 mm class depending on catalog (custom from drawing) |
| Ramp engagement (critical) | Toric must grip housing ramp and ring ramp and roll under compression; sliding on ramps instead of rolling causes early leakage |
| Contact band | Approx. 0.2–0.5 mm wide oil-retaining band on lapped faces; moves inward as material wears away |
| Wear compensation | Compressed elastomer releases stored energy to follow face wear and maintain axial load on the interface |
| Lubricant volume in hub | Minimum ~33% of cavity at seal level to cool and wet faces; maximum ~70% at room temperature to allow thermal expansion |
| Lubricant type | Mineral or synthetic oil preferred; EP gear oil common; grease only on slow-rotation duty with engineering sign-off |
| Operating speed (reference) | Up to ~3 m/s peripheral speed with oil bath on standard cast-iron grades |
| Operating temperature | -45 °C to +200 °C depending on elastomer compound selected for the loaders |
| HuaTong manufacturing chain | Alloy melting → casting → heat treatment → CNC → lapping → dimensional QC → pairing/packing |
| Ring-only supply | Available for rebuilders who mould elastomers locally; groove and ramp dimensions must match original group |
| Complete assembly supply | Both rings, both elastomers, rust inhibitor and labelled box — reduces field assembly error |
| Rebuild rule | Never replace one ring only; always change both rings and both elastomers; inspect housing ramps for damage |
| Face handling | Do not set lapped faces on bench tops or tools; clean with solvent, light oil film before mating halves |
| Alternate industry names | Floating seal ring, duo-cone ring, face seal ring, white-iron toric ring set, metal end seal |
| Inquiry checklist | Ring OD/ID/thickness, DO/DF/XY marking, elastomer spec, ring-only vs. kit, quantity, photos of worn sample |
One metal-ring platform feeds DO, DF and XY assemblies. This page explains supply format and ring metallurgy — not a fourth profile type.
Undercarriage and reducer manufacturers buy matched ring pairs and elastomer kits for sequential hub assembly with incoming dimensional QC.
Aftermarket distributors stock boxed mechanical face seal groups so field crews replace complete sets during roller and final-drive overhauls.
Rebuild specialists order loose 15Cr3Mo rings when elastomer inventory is local; HuaTong machines to drawing or reverse-engineers worn samples.
